Like previous entries in the series, the story campaign can be played through co-operatively with a second player in a local or online co-operative mode. The game features 4 categories of weather: from heavy breeze (trees, leaves, dust kicking up) and can grow into violent category 3 windstorms that can affect combat and weapon usage. Players can also perform a short distance shoulder charge, knocking enemies off balance and enemies can also pull players out of cover and perform their own takedowns. Many gameplay elements from the previous games are reintroduced, along with new elements such as the Dropshot weapon that fires explosive drills and the Buzzkill that fires ricocheting sawblades at enemies. The game was also the first Gears of War title since the original to be released for Windows. Upon release, the game received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the game's combat, visuals and set pieces, while criticism was directed towards the campaign and writing. The sequel, Gears 5, was released on September 10, 2019. The game was released worldwide on October 11, 2016. It is the fourth main installment in the Gears of War series, and the first mainline entry not to be developed by Epic Games. The limited edition console releases on October 7 to coincide with the Gears of War 4's early access period for Ultimate Edition owners. With Gears of War 4 hitting next week (or later this week if you've pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the game), we took a closer look at the new Xbox One S design. This also includes digital copies of Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War: Judgment through backward compatibility. The package also includes a custom Xbox One S wireless controller, which features the same look of the console including the color scheme and the etched-in scratches, and a full download of the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4 for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The console features actual etched scratches in the system to give it a "battle-weathered" look and feel. The console comes in a striking crimson red and has the iconic skull logo emblazoned across the front where the fan vents are.
Gears of War 4 is one of the biggest releases for Xbox One owners in 2016, and to mark the launch, Microsoft is releasing a limited edition 2TB Xbox One S console inspired by the series.
